TranslationI remember the whole village living together. There was a lot of people. There were one hundred and three house numbers and around six hundred people. In every house, there were around six, seven persons in a family. There was always a grandmother, a grandfather, a husband, a wife and their children. We were six in the family, too. I had two sisters, one brother, mother and father. Grandmother, my father’s mother, lived with us, too. We had everything we needed in the village then. There was a cobbler in the village, there as a blacksmith, there was a village inn. In one of the inns, called “La Gržinke“ (At Gržinka's), there was a bakery, and one could eat there, too. The other village inn was at the Martinina's. People live a typical village life. They made charcoal and sold it in Opatija and Rijeka, cut wood, worked the fields and planted everything they had need for. Life in the village was peaceful.
